Frequently asked questions

Is your question not here? Email us at contact@labizotterie.com or drop by the market hall at Marktstraat 12 in Apeldoorn.

01

Ordering and paying

How can I pay?

You pay securely using the familiar methods: iDEAL, Bancontact, credit card and PayPal. You will receive an order confirmation by email straight after your order.

Do I pay VAT?

No. La Bizotterie takes part in the Dutch small business scheme and therefore does not charge VAT. The price you see is the price you pay, excluding any shipping costs.

Can I reserve an item?

That is possible by arrangement. Send us a message with the product link and we will hold it for you for a maximum of one day. Paid means definitely reserved. Almost everything exists only once, so first come, first served.

Do I get a discount if I buy several pieces?

For larger orders we are happy to think along with you, especially when it comes to a complete set or furnishing a space. Send us a message with what you have in mind.

Why can I only order a minimum of 2 of some plates and glasses?

Of some individual plates and glasses we have several examples of the same kind. We sell those in twos: a pair of two looks better on the table and the shipping costs work out better per piece. At checkout you choose the number yourself, in steps of two, or you take the whole set in one go. Of one of a kind individual pieces you can simply order one.

02

Shipping

What does shipping cost?

At checkout you choose between a parcel point near you and delivery at home. A parcel point is always cheaper.

  • Netherlands: € 6,50 to a parcel point, € 7,50 delivered at home
  • Belgium: € 7,95 to a parcel point, € 9,95 delivered at home
  • France: € 11,50 to a parcel point, delivered at home € 13,50 up to 2 kilos, € 15,50 from 2 to 5 kilos and € 16,50 above that
  • Collection at the market hall in Apeldoorn is always free

From € 75, shipping to a parcel point in the Netherlands is free. Home delivery then stays at € 7,50. All rates apply up to 18 kilos. If your order is heavier or very large, just send us a message and we will work out a price to suit.

When will my order be sent?

We send accepted orders within two working days at the most, unless we have agreed something else with you. You always receive a track and trace code.

How are fragile pieces packed?

Ceramics and glass go into the box with double protection. We know how fragile old earthenware and thin glass are.

Do you reuse packaging material?

Yes. We share our location with three other shops and reuse packaging material between us as much as possible, to limit unnecessary waste. Your parcel therefore does not always look factory fresh, but the contents have been packed with care.

Can I collect my order?

Yes. Choose collection at the market hall at Marktstraat 12 in Apeldoorn at checkout. That is free. For fragile or large pieces, collection is even our preference.

Do you also ship to Belgium and the rest of Europe?

We ship to Belgium and France at a fixed rate. Belgium costs € 7,95 to a parcel point and € 9,95 delivered at home. France costs € 11,50 to a parcel point, and home delivery there depends on the weight.

Would you like another country? Send us a message with your address and the items you want, and we will see what is possible and send you a price to suit.

03

Vintage and condition

Are the items new or used?

Everything we sell is vintage or antique and has therefore already had a life. By no particular signs of use we mean marks that match the age, nature and use of the object.

Which terms do you use for the condition?

Excellent, no particular signs of use, light signs of use, craquelé, and chip or damage. You will find the term on every product under Condition, with an explanation below it. On the vintage condition page we show a real photo for each term.

And what if there is something wrong?

Noticeable signs of use such as large scratches, extensive craquelé, chips or other damage are always stated clearly with the item and shown in a photo.

What does craquelé mean?

Craquelé is the fine web of hairlines in the glaze that comes with old earthenware. It is not a crack and not damage, but a sign of age.

Can I put the tableware in the dishwasher?

We recommend hand washing. Old glaze, gold rims and silver plated parts do not go well with hot dishwasher programmes and aggressive dishwasher tablets.

Does everything exist only once?

Almost always. Sometimes we have two or three identical pieces, which you can see from the stock on the product page. Gone usually really is gone.

How do I know whether something is really old?

We name the brand and the period as precisely as we can back up, often on the basis of the mark on the underside. We always photograph that mark as well. What we are not sure of, we do not write down.

04

Returns

Can I send something back?

Yes, you have a fourteen day cooling off period from the day you receive your order. Register your return within that period via contact@labizotterie.com with your order number and you will receive the return instructions. After that you have another fourteen days to send it back.

Do I get everything back?

After we receive your return we will refund the order amount including the original shipping costs within fourteen days. The cost of sending it back is at your own expense.

My order arrived damaged. What now?

How annoying. Send us a message within fourteen days with photos of the item and the packaging, and we will take it up with the carrier.

What if the item does not match the description?

Then we will sort it out. Get in touch with photos and we will look together at what went wrong and what the best solution is: sending it back, part of the amount refunded, or picking out something else.

About La Bizotterie

Where do your things come from?

We drive through France ourselves: brocantes, vide-greniers and small workshops. Everything is selected with love on brand, condition and story. No wholesalers.

Do you buy things in too?

Sometimes. Do you have French tableware, glassware or vintage design that suits us? Send a few photos to contact@labizotterie.com and we will let you know whether we are interested.

Were you not Vintage Pareltjes?

That is right. We started as Vintage Pareltjes in the Nettenfabriek in Apeldoorn. Since 2025 we have been at Marktstraat 12 and we are switching over step by step to La Bizotterie, a nod to the surnames of Matthieu and Anita. Read more.

When do new items come online?

Every Friday. Would you like to be the first to know what is coming? Then sign up for our newsletter at the bottom of the page.

Yes, in the market hall at Marktstraat 12 in Apeldoorn, the old bicycle shed to the people of Apeldoorn. Open Wednesday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm, and on shopping Sunday from 12pm to 5pm.
